Category 3 open fire prohibition includes Greenwood area
The City of Greenwood alert says Category 3 open fires are prohibited throughout the Southeast Fire Centre, including the Greenwood area, effective noon Pacific time on Thursday, May 21, 2026.
The notice describes Category 3 open fires as including three or more piles burning at the same time, piles larger than two metres high or three metres wide, windrows up to 200 metres long and 15 metres wide, and stubble/grass burning over 0.2 hectares. It also lists air curtain burners and carbonizers as prohibited.
